What is a hanging server rack? 

Hanging server racks are compact and efficient solutions for storing and organising IT equipment such as servers, switches or network devices. Mounted on the wall, they save floor space, which is particularly important in small server rooms, offices or laboratories. 

Rack-mounted server rack types 

• Different height (U): Wall-mounted racks are available in various heights, measured in U units . Depending on your needs, you can choose racks from a few U units, allowing you to mount from a few to a dozen devices. 

• Cabinet depth: Cabinets are available in different depths, most commonly 450 mm or 600 mm. The choice depends on the size of the equipment to be fitted. Deeper cabinets will accommodate larger equipment. 

• Colour and style: Cabinets are available in a variety of colours, most commonly black and grey, to match the aesthetics of the room. The choice of colour can also influence the integration of the cabinet with the rest of the technical equipment in the room. 

How do I choose the right wall-mounted server rack? 

1. Height (U): Determine the amount of equipment you intend to mount in order to choose the right cabinet height. If you have a small amount of equipment, a smaller enclosure such as 6U will suffice, as Extralink 6U 600x450 black rack. For larger installations, a cabinet with a larger capacity, such as the following, would be a better choice. Extralink Premium 12U. 

2. Depth: Choose the depth of the cabinet according to the size of the equipment to be installed. Deeper cabinets, such as Extralink 18U 600x600, are better for larger server equipment. 

3. Assembly and availability: Check that the cabinet is easy to assemble and that it allows convenient access to equipment. Models with glass doors and the possibility of quickly removing the side panels are more functional.
