Description
Extralink OPIM-500W modified sine wave voltage converter
The Extralink OPIM-500W voltage converter is a device that converts the output voltage of a battery (direct current, DC) into 230V AC (alternating current). 230V AC is the type of current supplied by utilities to power standard household appliances such as TVs, refrigerators, radios, lights or to charge a laptop/mobile phone, etc.

If you already have a charged battery then connecting an inverter will enable you to power household appliances in areas without access to the mains; for example, in a campervan, caravan, boat, allotment or other remote location. Inverters are also ideal for off-grid systems and backup power systems in case of accidental power cuts.

This is a modified sine wave inverter, which means that the 230V AC output is an approximated sine wave. This solution is cheaper than pure sine-wave inverters; however, due to the current output characteristics, it is not recommended for use with induction motors such as those used with central heating cookers.

Advantages of the modified inverter:
- Less complex design - fewer potential points of failure
- Lower price

The model presented here can generate 500W of continuous power and up to 1,000W of peak power (the peak reserve capacity is useful if more power is needed to run the unit than for continuous operation).
In addition, the inverter has a USB port for powering USB-compatible devices (e.g. mobile phones, tablets, laptops, MP3 players, etc.).
